Home Decoration Wooden Door Selection Guide, 5-minute tutorial on choosing the right door!A qualified wooden door not only provides shade and insulation, protects your privacy, but also serves as a great decoration for your home with its natural texture. So how should we choose, install, and maintain wooden doors? How should wooden doors be renovated when they are old and have paint peeling off? Don't worry, let's explain it one by one in this book. How to purchase wooden doors? *Tip: Knock and weigh the wooden door According to experts, to distinguish the quality of wooden doors, the first step is to strike and weigh them. The filling materials inside the door are generally divided into solid and partially solid, and solid filling materials are definitely heavy and expensive; And some solid parts are relatively light, and the price is also relatively cheap. However, some unscrupulous merchants use leftover materials as fillers, making this type of wooden door environmentally friendly and worrying. So as consumers, we need to develop the habit of purchasing branded products. Step 2: Check the "sealing strip" The 'sealing strip' is directly related to the density of the door. The sealing strip is "hidden" in the contact part between the door cover and the door leaf, which feels relatively soft to the touch. Regular enterprises will add sealing strips to avoid the problem of a seam after closing the door. If the seal is not tight, the wood is prone to releasing formaldehyde, which does not meet environmental standards. Third move: Door jambs are equally important The material and quality of the door pocket are also key to environmental protection. Some merchants use different materials for door jambs and door leaves, and solid wood door leaves do not necessarily mean that solid wood door jambs will be used. If a solid wood door is made of density board as a door cover, as it does not contain wood fibers, it is easy to foam when exposed to water, which can cause deformation of the door frame. Therefore, when purchasing, it is important to ask whether the door jamb and door leaf are the same material. Fourth trick: Understanding environmental indicators The harmful substances generated by wooden doors mainly come from artificial wooden boards and paint coatings. When consumers choose wooden doors, they must understand whether their environmental indicators meet the standards: formaldehyde emission ≤ 1.5mg/L, soluble lead ≤ 90mg/kg, soluble cadmium ≤ 75mg/kg, soluble chromium ≤ 60mg/kg, etc. Wooden doors with characteristics such as light weight, good rigidity, waterproof, anti-corrosion, insect proof, sound insulation, insulation, and flame retardant should be *. How to install wooden doors? 1. Installation conditions Wooden doors must be installed using the method of reserving openings, and it is strictly prohibited to build openings while installing. Wooden doors must be installed after the installation of the opening ground engineering (such as floor tiles and stone) is completed, and at the same time, after the wall putty is scraped and polished flat (the wall needs to be covered with wall tiles and all openings in the stone must be aligned with the side of the opening) before installation can proceed. The humidity of the installation opening wall is 25%. If the humidity is 25%, a moisture-proof isolation layer should be installed on the wall. The installation site environment is clean, free from clutter and cross operations. 2. Installation tools We should prepare a complete set of electric hammers, woodworking hammers, planers, flat files, fine-tooth saws (hacksaws), screwdrivers, angle rulers, measuring tapes, plumb hammers, leveling rods, electric drills, hole cutters, punches, and corresponding drill bits. 3. Installation sequence *Step 2: Assemble the door pocket. First, locate the door cover and vertical plate, align the joint according to the number on the back, and ensure that the opening is on the same plane. Apply glue to the joint. Step 2: Install the door pocket. Place the firmly assembled door jamb into the door opening as a whole, and roughly fix it around with small wooden strips. The two sides of the door jamb should be in the same plane as the wall. Then, check whether the door jamb is vertical to the ground as a whole, whether the top plate of the door jamb is at right angles to the two vertical plates, and whether the vertical plate of the door jamb is bent. Twist the iron plates at both ends to wrap them around the wall. Step 3: Install the door leaf. Open the hinge slot first, and the distance between the hinge slot and the two ends of the door leaf should be 1/10 of the height of the door leaf. Step 4: Install the door lock. After installation, check whether the door leaves and door lock switches are flexible, whether the gaps are flexible, and whether the gaps meet the specifications. Step 5: Install the door pocket wire. Cut the door pocket line with a right angle edge into a 45 degree angle, trim it with a carpenter's plane, insert the right angle edge into the door pocket groove, and use floor adhesive to firmly bond the door pocket line with the door pocket board. Step 6: Install the door stopper in the corresponding position. 4. Installation techniques for wooden doors When installing a wooden door, first check whether all components of the door are complete, whether the dimensions of each component are correct, and whether the corresponding positions assigned to each set of doors match the door opening ruler. The installation techniques for wooden doors are as follows: Please place the goods horizontally on the ground before loading, and do not lean against them. Unpainted products should be painted within five days. Try to avoid prolonged exposure to outdoor sunlight and prevent wooden doors from getting heated. Maintain indoor air circulation and prevent wooden doors from being frequently damp. To prevent abnormal impacts on wooden doors, do not use excessive force when not closing. It is strictly prohibited to hang heavy objects on the door. Before installing the corner wall and T-shaped wall door opening, the customer should be notified to first create a "fake wall" on the side without the door stack, with a width of no less than 50mm. The width of the "fake wall" should be determined based on the width of the line. Otherwise, the door edge lines displayed on both sides will be asymmetric. How to renovate an old wooden door? *Step, remove decorations such as handles. Remove the handles and other decorations on the wooden door to prevent scratches on the hands in the next step, which is also beneficial for even painting. Step 2, polish. 1. Use coarse sandpaper to polish all the areas that need to be painted, and be careful not to polish the corners too much to maintain the original shape of the wooden door. 2. Soak a cloth with water, make it semi wet, and wipe all the powder off the freshly polished wooden door. 3. Take fine sandpaper and polish it again, paying attention to the corners. 4. Then clean the powder with a damp cloth. This one is very important, so that the wooden doors can be painted stronger. Step 3, brush the paint. 1. Take paint, brush, and open the paint cover. 2. Dip the brush in the paint bucket and don't get too much paint at once. 3. The rules for painting are from top to bottom and from left to right. 4. Note that corners and hidden areas should also be painted. Step 4, air dry. Leave the wooden door painted for four to five hours and wait for the paint to dry thoroughly. Step 5, polish again. After the paint dries thoroughly, use fine sandpaper to polish the wooden door again from beginning to end. This polishing is to smooth out uneven areas on the paint and facilitate further painting. Step 6: Brush the paint for the second time. Follow the third step above to apply the second coat of paint. Note that if the paint is too thick, an appropriate amount of rubber water can be added to dilute the paint before brushing. Then continue to air dry and polish. Step 7, apply the third coat of paint. Follow the above steps to apply another coat of paint, and the paint on the wooden door will be finished. Step 8, install decorative items such as handles. Install the decorative items that have been removed from the handle and other steps back. So the entire wooden door is painted. At this point, you will find that the paint on the wooden door is even and beautiful, and the entire room is also beautiful. How to clean and maintain wooden doors? 1. In spring, autumn, and winter, it is necessary to pay attention to good indoor ventilation, maintain indoor humidity, and keep wooden doors at normal room temperature and humidity to prevent deformation, cracking, corrosion of metal parts, edge sealing, and peeling of wooden door decorative materials due to excessive humidity and temperature difference. 2. Do not frequently use hands with water stains or other solutions to open wooden doors, to avoid discoloration of the door lock. When opening a wooden door or turning the door lock handle, do not use excessive force to reduce the service life of the wooden door lock. Hardware accessories such as hinges and door locks that frequently move should be tightened immediately when they become loose. When the wooden door lock is not working properly, you can add an appropriate amount of pencil lead powder to the keyhole. 3. In winter, the indoor temperature should not be too high (preferably around 20 degrees Celsius). When using electric heaters or other heating equipment, it is important to stay away from wooden doors to avoid deformation due to heating. 4. When painting walls, wooden doors should be covered to prevent paint from peeling off and fading the decorative materials on the product surface, which may affect the overall aesthetics. 5. Do not rub the edges and corners of wooden doors frequently to avoid fading and damage to the decorative materials at the edges and corners. 6. When removing stains on the surface of wooden doors, it is recommended to dampen them with air and wipe them with a soft cloth. Hard cloth can easily scratch the surface. When the stains are too heavy, neutral cleaning agents, toothpaste, or furniture cleaning agents can be used. After cleaning, immediately wipe them clean. 7. To maintain the surface gloss and service life of wooden doors, regular cleaning and dust removal should be carried out. The surface of wooden decoration products can be cured with a special curing solution. 8. When removing dust from wooden doors, if it is inconvenient to use a soft cotton cloth, a vacuum cleaner can be used to remove it. 9. Be careful not to place cloth soaked in neutral reagents or water on the surface of wooden doors for a long time, as it may damage the surface and cause discoloration or peeling of the surface finishing material. 10. When using wooden doors, do not hang heavy objects or avoid sharp objects colliding or scratching on the door leaf. When opening or closing the door leaf, do not use too much force or the opening angle is too large. |
